"Can we speak in Flowers. It'll be easier for me to understand." ~ Nayyirah Waheed ~
Summer has defiantly arrived here now and in full force. The temperatures are high, the ground dry. Not so long ago I remember wondering if the rain would ever stop, with Devon being the wettest county in the UK, Dartmoor was well and truly soaked and spring was late in it's arrival. Then came the warmer weather and life is again abundant. My garden is full of fruits beginning to ripen and everything is looking lush and green. This brings with it a great sense of gratitude for what is growing and bearing fruit in all areas of my life, not just my groaning plum tree. Gratitude for my experiences in life, good and bad, gifts me with a lighter soul, and with this, I have found that new things to be grateful for have come into my life.
Recently, during the snows in March, I moved to our new family home and at this time the garden, although beautiful and full of potential, looked as though it was very much still in a deep winter slumber. As spring has flowed through, Primroses and Bluebells appeared the fruit trees flowered and life stirred. This to began to waken my soul in my new space, a place to call home at long last.
The most recent discover in my new garden has been on my lawn, patches of Self~Heal. The cheerful little purple heads popping up in groups through the green carpet. Now this has intrigued me, because whilst out in nature and being part of groups of likeminded people, Self~Heal has come up a lot, I've noticed it a lot and it has been appearing everywhere for the past couple of months. I'm using a person who can take a hint, but this time, I clearly needed something a bit more in my face. So a lawn of purple patchwork has finally got me to sit back and take a look at this magical plant and her message.
Self~ Heal has a wonderfully delicate but powerful spirit. Keeping low to the ground and tucked out of the way, she generally goes unnoticed. But like any plant of the mint family, we know how determined she can be to get her message across and provide abundant support.
As the name suggests she is a fantastic medicinal herb and can provide lots of practical support for the body on a physical level. It is believed to have antiviral properties aiding in the treatment of colds and flu. Self~Heal is also said to be an underrated liver, gallbladder and thyroid remedy. She can be used to make a tea infusion, or topically in and an infused oil or cream.
* I am quite new to the world of Herbal Medicine and the physical applications of plants. So am deeply enjoying the process of learning a different way of connecting with the spirits of plants and flowers. So I most defiantly recommend doing your own research and talking to an experienced herbal practitioner before doing practical work with plants, especially if you intend to use them topically or internally. *
Self~Heal has a very direct message when it comes to connecting with her on a spiritual, mental and emotional level. This is the work of Vibrational Essences. One of my true passions!
Spending time with Self~Heal is a deeply empowering experience. Her energy is of offering great self-belief, in all it's aspects. Belief in the body's capability to heal, belief in the emotional intelligence of the individual, belief in accessing your authentic self and supporting you in speaking your truths with courage and conviction. She is a strong energy in a small package, that's for sure. Much like a few people close friends that I can think of. Her medicine is one of clarity and self assurance. So a wonderful essence to use when you are in a time of weakness, particularly of you find that you are experiencing a lot of guilt.
I ask that you take in her spirit, her message and her presence. Allow her to support you in the belief that you are enough and that you are love. It's a message that I have clearly needed to take note of and one that I have felt drawn to share.
I hope that you have enjoyed this post. I look forward to hearing your experiences with Self~Heal and the messages that has whispered to you. So please comment or message me, I love hearing of all your experiences and journeys with the Nature Kingdom.
