Today I wanted to speak with you about the extra emotional and mental weight that we all carry around with us. It may appear that these added extras in our lives are not always with us, however subconsciously they can be holding us back from embracing our truest potential. Like a metaphorical back pack full of stones that we carry, strapped to us that, that we can't put down. This can become quite the burden on us.
But how often do we look at what's in that back pack? Do we even know what's in there? Do we think to ourselves, "It's ok, it's just a little thing", and add another small rock?
These soon add up, and when we carry around with us and hang onto all these negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs, we can start to feel as though we'll never move forward or achieve that goal.
How many times have we said, "I really want to do 'xyz', but I can't because of 'abc'".
When we have these thoughts and beliefs we are making these rocks heavier, we are making them more physical. We are building walls.
As I went for a walk in my local woods on Dartmoor, I always go with the intention of receiving guidance from Nature. This is a practice I've been doing for many years now and I wanted to share with you the message that I received on this occasion. All about Letting Go.
I had been walking for a while and it wasn't until I was returning home that I noticed that a large tree had fallen nearby. At first I thought it was a Holly, but as I got closer, I saw that it was in fact, a Birch. There were so many messages in this for me.
Firstly, Birch is a tree of new beginnings. A pioneer tree and often one of the first to occupy land, as it is fast growing and as provide nourishment for the earth, allowing other species to survive and flourish. She has a graceful feminine spirit and holds great wisdom in the power of release in that which no longer serves us. Just as she sheds small twigs so that they can return to the earth to be transformed.
From the space where she had fallen, the Birch had left an opening in the canopy. Light was flooding in to the woodland floor. This for me was a deeply clear message, that when we allow our negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs to be transformed, we create space to allow light to flood into our lives. Situations and circumstances may not change, but our view of them will, we will be open to new opportunities and possibilities that before we would not have seen for the walls that we had created in front of us.
I connect with my thoughts and beliefs regularly to try and keep them in check. It's an ongoing process and can weave down through many layers and experiences that we have encountered along our Earth Journey. And sometimes it's also a messy process as we walk the path of personal growth. But, we are supported, by the Nature Kingdom.
When we allow through the light from the composting of our old beliefs, we can expand into our fullest and truest selves. We can then serve as a light for others, and an inspiration that when we work on ourselves in this way, we create a more beautiful place to live. It is the only outcome when we come from the heart and the space of love.
